Last week, in the Luch camp, located on the shores of Lake Shevino, the Summer Patrol action was launched.
This is an annual action, the purpose of which is the prevention of natural and man-made emergencies, the promotion of knowledge in the field of life safety, and the participation of young people in preventive work. Today, the first secretary of the Vitebsk RK of the NGO Belarusian Republican Youth Union Olga Shiyonok, the head of the IDN of the Vitebsk regional executive committee Konstantin Ivanov, and the deputy chairman of the commission on juvenile affairs Yevgenia Kozlova (pictured) met with the vacationers. Adults reminded the children about the dangers of a summer pond, told how to help a drowning person, and what to do if he himself found himself in such a situation.
All participants of the action received information booklets with rescuers' advice, which can be useful in life in case of an unforeseen emergency.
“According to operational data from OSVOD, 20 people drowned over the past week. Over the weekend alone, the water claimed the lives of 6 people, including 1 child, - said Nikita Gorbach, inspector of the propaganda and public relations sector of the Vitebsk ROChS. — Most of the situations occurred in Minsk (4) and Mogilev (4) regions. In operational reports - people of different ages, different levels of prosperity and different attitudes to life.
Investigators and experts establish the exact causes of all tragedies. However, more often than not, even the words of eyewitnesses are enough to understand how events could develop: alcohol consumption, a desire to show excellent physical abilities, neglect of elementary security measures.Rescuers remind: swimming on unequipped beaches is dangerous; drinking alcohol, albeit in small doses during rest, is unacceptable; children should not be left unattended for a second; if someone is drowning, you should immediately call the rescuers at numbers 101 or 112.
Also, lifeguards strongly recommend talking about safety with your relatives, friends or acquaintances if they go on vacation to the water.
